Lexi Dellinger, Women's Basketball
Anderson University women’s basketball sophomore Lexi Dellinger is the Raven Female Athlete of the Week.
The Ravens (8-11, 4-8) went 2-0 last week and tallied two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) wins. Anderson shut down Defiance College (6-13, 5-7) with a 55-41 victory on Wednesday in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. On Saturday in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium, Earlham College (5-14, 4-8) led by 14 points early in the third quarter, but the Ravens came back and took a 56-51 victory.
During the week, Dellinger averaged 20 points and seven rebounds, while complete 18-of-20 (90 percent) shots from the free-throw line. Dellinger notched 19 points and eight rebounds in the win against Defiance. The 5-foot-5 guard from Berne made 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) attempts from the charity stripe.
Dellinger keyed in Anderson’s comeback effort against Earlham as she scored 13 of Anderson’s 18 fourth-quarter points. She closed out the game with 21 points and six rebounds. Dellinger drained 11-of-12 (91.7 percent) attempts from the charity stripe, which includes going a perfect 10-for-10 in the fourth quarter.
Among NCAA Division III leaders, Dellinger ranks third in the nation in free-throw percentage as she has knocked down 42-of-46 (91.3 percent) attempts from the charity stripe. Dellinger ranks first in the HCAC in free-throw percentage and third in the HCAC in assist-turnover ratio. Dellinger leads the Ravens in free-throw percentage, assist-turnover ratio, points per game (13.7) and assists per game (3.0).
The Ravens are scheduled for two HCAC matchups this week. Anderson battles Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (4-15, 3-9) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Terre Haute. The Ravens then host Bluffton University (10-9, 4-8) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
