The Anderson University baseball team fought to a split with Franklin College during Sunday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at Don Brandon Field.

The Anderson University baseball team fought to a split with Franklin College during Sunday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) doubleheader at Don Brandon Field.
Franklin (15-7, 15-7) earned a 10-8 win in Game 1 while Anderson (15-10, 15-10) put together a 10-7 victory in Game 2.
GAME 1: FRANKLIN 10, ANDERSON 8
M.J. Furnish (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian) produced a two-run double, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Johnathan Willoughby (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Justin Reed (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) finished 2-for-5 with a double. Bennie Day (Charlestown, Ind./Jeffersonville) went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Tyler Burton (Knightstown, Ind./Knightstown) finished 2-for-6. Jason Hall-Manley (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine), Tyler Smitherman (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) and T.J. Price (Anderson, Ind./Daleville) rounded out Anderson's 13 hits with singles. Branton Sanders (Whiteland, Ind.Whiteland) drew four walks on six plate appearances. Reed, Burton, Price and Day each drive in runs.
GAME 2: ANDERSON 10, FRANKLIN 7
Rene Casas Jr. (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) smashed his first home run of his collegiate career. Willoughby ripped a two-run triple, closing out the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Day stole three bases, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Furnish went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Hall-Manley recorded a single and two RBIs. Sanders went 1-for-2 with three walks while Reed finished 1-for-2 with two walks. Anderson provided 10 hits in Game 2.
Zach Wagner (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) (1-0) captured the win for the Ravens. He struck out three batters, issued two walks and gave up two hits in three scoreless innings. A.J. Bunnell (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) tossed a scoreless inning in his collegiate debut.
