Anderson Baseball Totals Eight All-HCAC Selections

Jake Stank was tabbed as HCAC Newcomer of the Year for the Ravens. Tyler Smitherman garnered first-team all-conference honors. Evan Doan, Kasey Henderson, Logan Nickel, Justin Reed, Grahm Reedy and Stank each earned second-team all-conference recognition while T.J. Price received all-HCAC Honorable Mention.
Smitherman, Stank, Doan and Nickel are each first-time recipients of all-conference honors. Reed was tabbed first-team all-HCAC honors in 2021 while Henderson, Price and Reedy each received second-team all-conference honors in 2021.
Smitherman went 30-for-77 with a .390 batting average during the conference season. He provided 20 runs, 15 RBI's six doubles and five home runs. Smitherman contributed a .448 on-base percentage, a .662 slugging percentage and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of 1.110. Among HCAC leaders, Smitherman ranks T-3 in hits, fifth in homers, seventh in batting average, ninth in slugging percentage and ninth in OPS.
During the regular season, Smitherman was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. He went 64-for-166 with 14 doubles, 13 homers, 51 RBI's, 39 runs and a .386 batting average. The junior first baseman from Westfield also produced a .439 on-base percentage, a .705 slugging percentage and a 1.178 OPS. Smitherman tied for 24th in the nation in home runs and tied for 35th in the nation with 0.32 home runs per game. Among HCAC leaders, Smitherman ranked second in hits, third in RBI's, third in batting average, fourth in home runs, fourth in home runs per game, fifth in slugging percentage, fifth in OPS and T-8 in doubles.
Stank went 26-for-70 with four doubles, four triples, three homers, 18 RBI's, 16 runs and a .371 batting average during the conference season. He also turned in a .432 on-base percentage, a .671 slugging percentage and 1.103 OPS. Among HCAC leaders, Stank ranked T-1 in triples, eighth in slugging percentage and 10th in OPS.
During the regular season, Stank was selected to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week and tabbed HCAC Hitter of the Week. The freshman outfielder from McCordsville went 54-for-160 with six doubles, six triples, eight homers, 36 RBI's, 34 runs, a .338 batting average and a .600 slugging percentage. Stank leads the conference and is tied for 12th in the nation in triples. Among HCAC leaders, Stank also ranks T-7 in homers, ninth in slugging percentage and T-9 in hits.
Doan went 4-2 with a save and a 3.03 ERA during the conference season. He also provided a 1.28 WHIP and 9.1 K/9. Doan struck out 30 batters, issued eight walks and allowed 15 runs (10 earned) on 30 hits in 29 and two-thirds innings. He tied for first in the HCAC in wins and ranked fourth in the conference in ERA.
Doan garnered HCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors during the regular season. He went 6-2 with two saves, a 3.33 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. Doan fanned 44 batters, yielded 18 walks and gave up 25 runs (19 earned) on 56 hits in 51 and one-third innings. The senior right-handed pitcher from Frankton ranks third in the conference in ERA and is tied for third in wins.
Henderson went 2-1 with a 5.35 ERA during the conference season. He struck out 22 batters, issued 10 walks and scattered 25 runs (22 earned) on 43 hits in 37 innings. The senior left hander from Muncie went 3-3 with a 6.54 ERA during the regular season. He punched out 30 batters, conceded 20 walks and surrendered 51 runs (47 earned) on 90 hits in 64 and two-thirds innings. Henderson was also named to the HCAC All-Tournament Team.
Nickel went 1-2 with six saves and a 4.39 ERA during the conference season. He produced a 1.16 WHIP and 9.11 K/9. Nickel struck out 27 batters, yielded four walks and allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 27 hits in 26 and two-thirds innings. He tied for second in the conference in saves.
Nickel picked up a handful of accolades during the regular season, including National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Rookie of the Week, NCBWA Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention, D3baseball.com Team-of-the-Week selection and HCAC Pitcher of the Week. The freshman right hander from Westfield went 2-4 with six saves, a 5.81 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. He fanned 41 batters, issued 12 walks and scattered 33 runs (31 earned) on 59 hits in 48 innings. Nickel is tied for 31st in the nation in saves and ranks third in the HCAC in saves.
Reed went 24-for-81 with six doubles, 15 runs, seven stolen bases and a .296 batting average during the conference season. He tied for eighth in the conference in stolen bases. During the regular season, the junior shortstop from Martinsville went 60-for-166 with 17 doubles, 39 runs, 32 RBI's, four triples, four homers, 15 stolen bases and a .361 batting average. He also posted a .423 on-base percentage and a .584 slugging percentage. Reed tied for first in the conference and tied for 39th in the nation in doubles. Among HCAC leaders, Reed ranks seventh in hits, T-7 in stolen bases and T-8 in triples.
Reedy went 24-for-78 with 14 runs and a .308 batting average during the conference season. He also tallied three sacrifice hits, which tied for second in the conference. During the regular season, the junior outfielder from Yorktown went 52-for-166 with 28 runs, 10 doubles, 20 RBI's, 11 stolen bases and three triples. Reedy also recorded five sacrifice hits, which tied for second in the conference.
Price went 22-for-67 with four homers, 16 RBI's, 15 runs and a .328 batting average during the conference season. He also produced a .410 on-base percentage and a .567 slugging percentage. The senior utility player from Anderson tied for sixth in the conference in homers. During the regular season, Price went 37-for-139 with a .266 batting average. He also notched 26 runs, 20 RBI's and six homers.
