Ravens Record Scoreless Draw with Yellow Jackets
The Anderson University men's soccer team recorded a scoreless draw with Defiance College during Wednesday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Defiance, Ohio.
Â
Anderson (4-8-2, 1-2-1) came out aggressive in the first half and held a 12-5 shot advantage against Defiance (7-6-2, 2-1-1) at halftime.
Â
"It is the first time we have played that well in the first half this season," Coach Scott Fridley said. "We started strong and controlled the first half. Unfortunately, none of our first-half shots went in the goal. We played OK in the second half, but both sides had opportunity for success."
Â
Anderson suffered a 6-1 loss to Manchester University (6-7-1, 3-1) last Wednesday. Since making adjustments following the Manchester match, Anderson has allowed just one goal in two matches. The Ravens topped Mount St. Joseph University (3-11, 1-3) in a 4-1 decision last Saturday and shutout Defiance on Wednesday.
Â
"Since we changed things after the Manchester match, we have only given up one goal in the last 200 minutes. We need to focus now on Saturday."
Â
Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) recorded a shutout for the Ravens. He served as goalkeeper for 110 minutes and saved each of the five shots he faced.
Â
Daniel Collins (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) led the Ravens with six shots. Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) put together five shots. R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) and Sean Cain (Monroe, Ohio/Monroe) delivered four shots apiece. Chase Litzke (Plain City, Ohio/Fairbanks) provided two shots while Nick Martin (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine), Sam Rowlison (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), Antony Rodriguez (Lawrence, Ind./Lawrence North), Noah Keller (Mount Vernon, Ind./Mount Vernon) and Aiden Lutterman each added shots. Collins and Frost registered three shots on goal apiece while Martin contributed a shot on goal.
Â
The Ravens host Franklin College (4-11, 1-3) for Homecoming on Saturday at 3 p.m. for an HCAC matchup at the AU Soccer Fields.
