Panthers Top Ravens
Hanover College topped the Anderson University men's soccer team with a 2-0 victory during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Hanover.

"I was proud of the of how hard we played and left all we had on the field." Coach Scott Fridley said. "Hanover is a very talented team."

Josh Hughes put the Panthers (9-5-1, 6-1) on the board in the 19th minute. Fernando Martin then provided a goal in the 58th minute with assists from Will Bedel and Hughes.

Regan Frost (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) contributed a shot on goal for Anderson (6-9-2, 3-3-1). R.J. Macomber (Marion, Ind./Marion) and Drew Sonnefeldt (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) also added shots.

Caleb Oliver (Marion, Ind./Marion) saved 15 of the 17 shots he faced.

Nick Martin (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the Ravens with six interceptions while Chase Litzke (Plain City, Ohio/Fairbanks) posted a team-high four steals.

Hanover outshot the Ravens 25-3 and held a 17-1 shots on goal advantage.

With one week remaining in the HCAC, Anderson is one of three teams vying for the fourth and final seed in the HCAC Tournament. Defiance College (9-7-2, 4-2-1) is currently fourth in the standings with 13 points. Manchester University (7-9-1, 4-3) holds fifth with 12 points while Anderson sits in sixth with 10 points.

Anderson is scheduled for two HCAC matches next week. The Ravens go head-to-head with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (13-3, 6-1) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Terre Haute. The Ravens close out the season by battling Bluffton University (6-11, 1-6) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio.
