Ravens Claims Eighth in Indiana Intercollegiates
The Anderson University men's swimming and diving team claimed eighth place in the Indiana Intercollegiates on Saturday in Lafayette.
Â
"I'm thrilled that our men and women competed in the Indiana Intercollegiate Invite at Purdue," Coach Tanner Barton said. "This marks the first year our program has participated in this invite. It's an incredible experience for our student-athletes to compete in one of the nicest Indiana natatoriums while racing in-state competitors from DI, DIII and NAIA schools."
Â
Freshman Noah Scheffer (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford) broke the school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.58 seconds.
Â
Anderson fielded a 200 freestyle relay of Scheffer, Evan Kropf (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne Concordia), Josh Ekberg (Mahomet, Ill/Mahomet Seymour) and Andrew Taflinger (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute North), which clocked a time of 1 minute, 31.57 seconds and finished 10th.
Â
"I was most pleased with the energy we brought to the meet, especially on the men's side. Several swimmers achieved lifetime best relay splits and this is a great indicator for future success."
Â
The Ravens (0-0) return to action in a triangular at Crawfordsville against Wabash College (0-0) and Bethel University (Ind.) (0-0) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
