Alphonso Blackwell is a member of the football and men's track and field teams. In football, Blackwell started on the offensive line during his junior and senior seasons. Blackwell contributed to the throws team in track and field.
During indoor track and field, he tossed career bests of 10.15 meters (33 feet, 3.5 inches) in the shot put and 11.02 meters (36 feet, 2 inches) in the weight throw. For outdoor track and field, he contributed career personal records of 27.32 meters (89 feet, 7 inches) in the discus and 10.05 meters (32 feet, 11.75 inches) in the shot put.
On campus, Blackwell is a Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) member, a Senate member in the student government, the president and co-founder of Phi Alpha Kappa, an intramural participant, a member of the Black Student Association (BSA) and a play-by-play announcer with Anderson Athletics.
