Strege Claims 13th in NCAA Diving Regional Championships

Anderson University diving standout Halle Strege claimed 13th place in the 1-meter diving event with an 11-dive score of 361.45 points during the NCAA Division III Diving Central Regional Championships on Friday in Granville, Ohio.

"Qualifying for NCAA Regionals is a major accomplishment, especially for a freshman diver," Coach Tanner Barton said. "Halle handled the pressure of [Friday's] championship like a veteran. Coach Andra Pavich and I are very proud of Halle and Anderson University swimming and diving has entered a new era."

Strege qualified for the diving regionals after eclipsing the 1-meter 11-dive NCAA 'B' qualifying standard of 395 points. The McCordsville native compiled a 1-meter 11-dive score of 402.95 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships to secure the first individual conference title in program history for either gender.

Eight divers will advance from the diving regional to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on March 18-21 in Greensboro, N.C. The top four divers from 1-meter and 3-meter diving events automatically qualify for nationals. Divers who finish in the top eight of either event are eligible for a potential provisional bid based on everyone's placings between the two events.

Strege competed with an event degree of difficulty of 21.20 and plans to boost that number for higher multipliers as she looks ahead to next season.
