The Anderson University volleyball team picked up wins against Concordia University Chicago and MacMurray College during the #Strong Tournament on Friday in Galesburg, Ill.

"[Friday] was a great confidence booster for the Ravens," Coach Tami Miller said. "We not only came together as a team in the Concordia match, but we showed relentless fight against MacMurray."

Anderson swept Concordia Chicago (4-6) in the first match with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-21 win. The Ravens then battled past MacMurray (3-5) with a 21-25, 28-26, 25-15, 19-25, 15-12.

Kaycie Gates (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) delivered a whopping eight aces against MacMurray. The last time a Raven broke eight aces in a match is when Audra Hodge twice set the record on Oct. 28, 2000. Gates is the first player to provide eight aces in a match that lasted five sets.

ANDERSON 3, CONCORDIA CHICAGO 0
Olivia Rice (Walkerton, Ind./John Glenn) led the Ravens with eight kills. Felicity Bontrager (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) and Emily Hale (Daleville, Ind./Wes-Del) each contributed seven kills while Jimena Montano (Algonquin, Ill./Harvest Christian Academy) and McKenzie Turner (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) provided six kills apiece. Turner recorded a team-high .417 attack percentage. Bontrager turned in a .333 hitting percentage.

Hannah Rady (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale) and Gates dished out 19 assists and 16 assists, respectively. Brooke Troyer (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) delivered four aces and collected 14 digs. Turner produced four blocks.

ANDERSON 3, MACMURRAY 2
Rice smashed 17 kills for the Ravens. Hale powered to 13 kills. Montano contributed nine kills, Abby White (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) turned in seven kills and Bontrager added six kills. Rady and Gates set up 26 and 21 assists, respectively. Hale racked up a .310 hitting percentage and contributed three aces.

Troyer scattered 25 digs and Bontrager collected 24 digs. Rady tallied 16 digs and Gates scattered 10 digs. Bontrager paced the Ravens with five blocks while Turner and Montano both recorded four blocks. White also produced three blocks.

The Ravens are slated for two more matches in the #Strong Tournament on Saturday. Anderson clashes with Central College (6-3) at 11 a.m. ET and takes on Monmouth College (4-4) at 3 p.m. ET.
