The Anderson University volleyball team announced its team awards for the Spring 2021 season.
Felicity Bontrager (Goshen Ind./Fairfield) was selected as Team MVP. The 5-foot-8 junior from Goshen tallied 122 kills, 24 service aces, 29 blocks and 362 attacks. Bontrager turned in a .188 hitting percentage as well as set averages 2.07 kills, 0.49 blocks and 0.31 service aces. She ranked ninth in the HCAC in total service aces.
Brooke Troyer (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) was named the honorary captain. The 5-foot-5 junior libero from Elkhart scattered 4.03 digs per set.
Mary Engbrecht (Anderson, Ind./Daleville) was selected as the most improved player. The 5-foot-7 outside hitter from Anderson contributed 50 kills, 171 attacks and a .129 attack percentage. Engbrecht recorded 1.67 kills per set.
Lydia Hillebrand (Coleman, Mich./Calvary Baptist Academy) received the Raven Award. The Ravens Award is an honor that embodies a positive attitude, great work ethic and supportiveness for teammates.
Players were also recognized for their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) honors. Bontrager and Shaylen Perry (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) each earned all-HCAC Honorable Mention. Alexis Sorrell (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) was named Anderson's recipient of the HCAC Sportsmanship Award. Bontrager, Hillebrand, Hannah Rady (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale), Erin Roach (Selma, Ind./Wapahani), Sorrell, Ashlyn Transier (Cicero, Ind./Oak Hill) and Troyer each garner academic all-HCAC honors.
