Anderson Defeated In Season Finale
November 10, 2018
On Senior Day at Macholtz Stadium, Anderson lost 35-6 to Manchester, Saturday.
The game was also for the traveling trophy, the Bronze Ball.
AU finishes the season 2-8 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Saturday's contest was the final game for six seniors, Jeremy Davis, Dakota Frauhiger, Stephen Marshall, Dayan Smith, Kreed Switzer and Caleb Wooldridge. The players along with senior cheerleaders and athletic trainers were recognized prior to the game.
"I'm very proud of the seniors who played their final football game today," said first-year coach Steve Rock. "I'm thankful for their leadership as we made major changes in the program this year."
AU trailed 28-0 in the fourth quarter when freshman running back Reggie Lipscomb provided the Ravens with their lone score. Lipscomb's 33-yard touchdown run was AU's longest rushing touchdown of the season.
"We, again, saw signs of a young team that needs to make major gains this offseason so that, physically, we can compete for four quarters," added Rock. "Sadly, some of our undisciplined side showed today with some costly penalties.
"We will go to work Monday with players' end-of-season evaluations and set high goals and expectations for those who are willing to accept the challenge. I believe in our process and our players have to continue to work toward meeting our program expectations."
