Eight Ravens Earn All-HCAC Honors
Eight Anderson University football players earned all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) honors, which was announced by the conference on Thursday.
Eight Anderson University football players earned all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) honors, which was announced by the conference on Thursday.
Sam Feola (Ridgeville, Ind. / Monroe Central), Dean Foundos (Highland, Ind. / Highland) and Zac Tallent (Lakeland, Fla. / George Jenkins) garnered second-team all-HCAC recognition while Tristan Chambers (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran), Jawan Coney (Hammond, Ind. / Morton), Tyson Harley (New Palestine, Ind. / Mount Vernon), Collin McCaffrey (Manchester, Mich. / Manchester) and Caden McClain (Pendleton, Ind. / Pendleton Heights) each received all-HCAC Honorable Mention.
"I'm very happy for these young men and their accomplishments, and they should feel proud that the HCAC coaches recognized them as impact players," Coach Steve Rock said. "This group has a bright future and there will be many more awards and recognition for them. We have several other guys on this squad that are deserving but they play in positions where the spotlight isn't on them and minimal stats to make their case."
Feola collected all-conference honors for the second time after receiving all-HCAC Honorable Mention as a freshman. During the HCAC season, Feola recorded 49 tackles for an average of 7.0 tackles per game, which tied for eighth in the HCAC. The sophomore linebacker from Ridgeville also provided three tackles for losses, 1.5 sacks, three pass breakups and a blocked kick. During the regular season, Feola notched 70 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four tackles for losses, four pass breakups and two blocked kicks. Feola produced seven tackles per game, which ranks eighth in the HCAC.
Foundos received all-conference recognition for the first time in his career. During the HCAC season, Foundos provided 18 receptions, 146 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He also passed for 63 yards. During the regular season, the junior tight end from Highland contributed 22 receptions, 171 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Foundos also threw for 168 yards and one passing touchdown.
Tallent garnered all-conference recognition for the fourth time in his career. The senior wide receiver from Lakeland, Fla. earned all-HCAC Honorable Mention as a freshman, was tabbed with first-team all-HCAC honors as a sophomore and earned second-team all-HCAC recognition as a junior. During the HCAC season, Tallent notched 50 receptions, 482 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Among HCAC leaders during the conference season, Tallent ranked first in receptions per game (7.1), fifth in receiving yards per game (68.9) and T-10 in receiving touchdowns. During the regular season, Tallent produced 71 receptions, 644 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Among HCAC leaders, Tallent ranks first in receptions per game (7.1), sixth in receiving yards per game (64.4) and T-9 in reception touchdowns. Tallent also ranks T-16 in the nation in receptions per game.
Chambers received all-HCAC Honorable Mention for the third time in his career. During the HCAC season, Chambers turned in 15 tackles, five tackles for losses, one sack, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. The junior defensive lineman from Fort Wayne put together 25 tackles, 7.5 tackles for losses, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass breakup and one blocked kick during the regular season. Chambers tied for third in the HCAC with two fumbles forced.
Coney earned his first career all-conference selection. During the HCAC season, the sophomore defensive lineman from Hammond produced 31 tackles, 8.5 tackles for losses, four sacks, three pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and one fumble forced. Among HCAC leaders during the conference season, Coney ranked T-4 in tackles for losses per game (1.21) and ninth in sacks per game (0.57). During the regular season, Coney put together 38 tackles, six sacks, 10.5 tackles for losses, one forced fumble and three pass blocks. Among HCAC leaders, Coney ranked T-4 in sacks per game (0.6) and T-9 in tackles for losses per game (10.5).
Harley collected his third career all-conference selection after earning second-team all-HCAC honors as a freshman and sophomore. He was tabbed as HCAC Rookie of the Year in 2019. The junior quarterback from New Palestine was also named HCAC Offensive Player of the Week this season. During the HCAC season, Harley tallied 153 completions, 1,349 passing yards and 10 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Among HCAC leaders in the conference season, Harley ranked second in passing yards per game (224.8) and T-2 in passing touchdowns. During the regular season, Harley tossed 201 completions, 1,762 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns. Harley also ran for two touchdowns. Among HCAC leaders, Harley ranks first in completions per game (22.33), third in passing yards per game (195.8), third in total offense per game (194.7), third in points responsible for per game (10.2), fourth in completion percentage (.548) and fourth in passing touchdowns. Harley ranked 19th in the nation in completions per game.
McCaffrey received his first career all-conference selection. During the HCAC season and the regular season, the sophomore linebacker from Manchester, Mich. recorded 39 tackles and two tackles for losses.
McClain earned his first career all-conference selection. During the HCAC season, the freshman linebacker from Pendleton provided 47 tackles, one tackle for a loss, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry and one forced fumble. McClain ranked 10th in the HCAC during the conference season with 6.7 tackles per game. During the regular season, McClain tallied 62 tackles, one tackle for a loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup.
