Anderson University men's soccer standout Jordan Bossman was named the United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA D-III Men's National Player of the Week, which was announced on Wednesday.
"I am so excited for the team and for Jordan," Coach Scott Fridley said. "I'm always glad when players get recognized for good performances; I would call this a great performance. What a starting week he has had to the season coming back from being injured last year. I'm proud of his persistence and willingness to always get better and work harder and be the best he can be."
Bossman became the first player in program history to record consecutive hat tricks. He netted three goals against the University of Cincinnati-Clermont (3-2) on Friday while playing only 25 minutes, 40 seconds during the match. Bossman followed up on Saturday by posting a hat trick against Concordia University Chicago (0-3).
Anderson (3-0) topped UC-Clermont 4-1 and Concordia Chicago 5-3 to capture the program's first hat trick since 2018. Bossman was tabbed as the Offensive MVP of the Raven/Quaker Classic and was later selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Offensive Player of the Week. The junior from Gahanna, Ohio is the first USC National Player of the Week in program history.
Bossman currently leads the nation with seven goals and 15 points. He has also added an assist this year. Bossman currently ranks second in the nation in points per game (5.00) and third in the nation in goals per game (2.33).
"I am extremely honored to be receiving the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week award and I am thrilled to be the first Anderson University Men's Soccer player to record consecutive hat tricks," Bossman said. "I am also excited to learn that I am the leading scorer in the nation at the moment. I could not have accomplished this without my dedicated coach Scott Fridley, my assistant coaches and my teammates. My team is now 3-0 and we are off to an amazing start to the season. We will be a competitive team to beat."
Anderson faces off with Wittenberg University (2-0) to open the Raven/Spartan Classic on Friday at 5 p.m. The Ravens continue the Raven/Spartan Classic by clashing with Adrian College (0-0-1) on Parents Day on Saturday at 3 p.m.
