Hammons Takes Seventh in Javelin in Billy Hayes Invitational
Anderson University men’s track and field junior Parker Hammons took seventh place overall and fifth in the college division of the javelin with a personal-record (PR) throw of 46.59 meters (152 feet, 10.25 inches) during Friday’s Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington.

Michael Sweigart secured 11th overall and ninth in the hammer with a toss of 54.40 meters (178 feet, 5.75 inches). Zachary Davenport turned in a time of 4 minutes, 10.20 seconds in the 1,500-meter run.
"The weather cooperated and the competition was great," Coach Nic Huffman said. "We still have some tweaks to make and know there is a lot more we need to do. We got valuable experience, but need to figure it out real soon. Back to the drawing board and we will try again next week."
Anderson battles in the Marian University Last Chance Meet on Wednesday in Indianapolis at a time to be announced.
