Ravens Cap Dramatic Comeback against Belles
Trailing 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining, the Anderson University women’s soccer team netted three goals in the final 10 minutes to cap off a 3-2 comeback victory against St. Mary’s College (Ind.) on Wednesday at Fridley Field.

During the 21st minute, Holly Skrip served a free kick for the Belles (1-3). Anderson (2-1-1) attempted to clear the ball, but the ball went to Marina De Castro Vasconcelos and Vasconcelos finished the goal.
With less than five minutes left in the half, the Belles drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick. Izzy Linus fired for the right side and delivered the penalty-kick goal to give the Belles a 2-0 lead, which they took into halftime. At halftime, the Belles held an 8-1 shot advantage against the Ravens.
In the 81st minute, Anderson was given strong field position for a free kick following a St. Mary's foul. Emily Wilusz took a shot and it was blocked. Hannah Thompson rebounded the shot and fired a shot on target at the top and it was saved. Kyndall Ferguson rebounded the ball and finished the goal to cut the lead to one. Thompson received the assist on the goal.
It took just 29 seconds for the Ravens to tie the game. Lauren Brown received a pass. She then spun around the first defender, beat the second defender to leave no defenders between her and the goalie. Brown found the bottom right corner to tie the game at 2-2 with 8:56 remaining.
In the final minute, St. Mary's goalkeeper Caroline Miklavcic was called for a handball as she picked up the ball outside of the box. This gave the Ravens a free kick. Bekah Blair delivered the shot and found the top-right corner for a goal, giving the Ravens a 3-2 lead with 37 seconds remaining. The Belles were unable to find any more shot opportunities.
After being outshot 8-1 in the first half, the Ravens posted an 11-5 shot advantage in the second half. For the contest, the Belles held a 13-12 shot advantage and a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Ferguson, Brown and Blair each finished with goals while Thompson recorded an assist. Blair tallied two shots and one shot on goal. Brown, Ferguson, Thompson and Lillie Casey each put their only shots on frame. Wilusz led the Ravens with four shots. Anhely Montes and Paige Tomallo each added shots. Adrienne Weyers saved four of the six shots she faced.
Anderson clashes with Asbury (0-2-1) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Wilmore, Ky.
