Anderson Captures Historic Win against Franklin

The Anderson University women's lacrosse team captured a historic 16-13 victory against Franklin College during Wednesday's non-conference matchup at Macholtz Stadium.
Anderson moved to 3-2 on the season, surpassing the program record for most wins in a season. The Grizzlies fell to 0-5.
"I'm happy to get the win," Coach Russell Mackey said. "Despite the outcome, there was much to learn from this game that will help us grow."
Kaitlyn Lawson (Newburgh, Ind./Castle), Mallory Housman (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial), Gretta Mesarosh (Avon, Ind./Avon) and Elizabeth Graham (Riverside, Ohio/Carroll) each finished with three goals. Graham also added an assist. Riley Tull (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) contributed two goals and an assist while Samantha Huber (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian) netted two goals.
Madison Leonard (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) saved 10 of the 13 shots she faced. The sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas also picked up four ground balls.
Emily Albert (New Albany, Ind./Christian Academy of Indiana) caused two turnovers and recorded three ground balls. Lawson also tallied three ground balls. Graham won eight draw controls.
Anderson is scheduled to kick off the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) season on Saturday against Mount St. Joseph University (1-2, 0-1) at 6 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium.
