Franklin Pulls Away from Anderson

Franklin College (2-3, 2-0) fought off the Anderson University football team (0-5, 0-2) by a score of 36-28 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action during Anderson's Homecoming on Saturday at Macholtz Stadium.

Julian Holguin put together a historic performance with 198 receiving yards and 15 receptions. The senior wide receiver from Richmond tied for third for most receptions in a single game in school history. Holguin's single-game receiving yard total ranks eighth in school history. He also rushed for two touchdowns on reverses.

COACH JONATHAN CODDINGTON'S COMMENTS

I love our guys and I am proud of the effort they put forth. We competed hard for four quarters and unfortunately came up a little bit short. We made a lot of good plays and will celebrate those, while also focusing on the things we need to improve on. The mark of a great team is that they continue to get better as the season goes on and that is what we plan to do. We look forward to another week to be able to work on things we need to improve on, get closer together and stronger as a team and show that improvement next Saturday.
