Anderson (1-4, 0-1) put two points on the board in the first quarter with a safety as Bluffton (1-3, 1-0) committed an intentional grounding penalty in their own end zone. In the fourth quarter, Carson Brookbank connected with Gabe McGuire for an 8-yard passing touchdown. Corey Layton converted the extra-point attempt for the Ravens.
Bluffton held a 415-286 advantage in total offense.
Zac Montgomery completed 25-of-38 (65.8 percent) passes for 205 passing yards. Brookbank completed 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) passes for 72 yards and one touchdown. The sophomore from Springport also rushed for 21 yards.
McGuire was named Raven of the Game. The freshman wide receiver from Alexandria earned his first reception touchdown and racked up career highs of seven receptions and 71 receiving yards. Julian Holguin notched 11 receptions and 78 receiving yards. Gabe McGuire and Adam Dunson finished with matching statlines of five receptions for 43 receiving yards. Layton converted his only extra-point attempt.
On defense, Jake Simpson led the Ravens with 11 tackles. The junior from Hobart also added a sack and a tackle for loss. Derrius Grimes put together six tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss. Zaire Prioleau recorded five tackles while Connor Huffman and DeMarco Cooley provided tackles for loss. Johnathen Hayworth-Dupree also broke up a pass.
Anderson hosts Mount St. Joseph University (3-2, 1-0) in HCAC action for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Middle School in Anderson.
