After both teams entered halftime knotted at 0-0, the Ravens (1-3) struck first in the third quarter. Zaire Prioleau intercepted a pass and returned it 28 yards to Luther's 2-yard line. A tackle for a loss moved Anderson to the 5, but Zac Montgomery completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Deitric Johnson.
Anderson held a 6-0 lead through three quarters, but Luther (1-2) outscored Anderson 9-0 in the fourth quarter. The Ravens held a 272-224 advantage in total offense. Anderson also controlled 33 minutes, 31 seconds of the possession.
Montgomery was named Raven of the Game after completing 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) passes for 171 yards and one throwing touchdown. Julian Holguin contributed five receptions for 77 receiving yards. Marquane Taylor rushed for 46 yards and tallied four receptions. Johnson also hauled in a reception touchdown.
Jake Simpson notched eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and one pass breakup. In addition to his interception, Prioleau recorded five tackles. Matt Shams and Gavin Reners turned in five tackles each. Reners also provided a tackle for a loss. Darrion Alexander, Rickey Bell and Connor Huffman provided four tackles apiece. Bell broke up two passes while Tone Hurd and Justin Prayor added pass break ups.
Holguin returned three punts for a total of 55 yards and an average of 18.3 yards per return. Elijah St. Pierre recorded five punts for a total of 173 yards and an average of 34.6 yards per punt. He also pinned two punts inside the 20.
Anderson opens the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) season by facing off with Bluffton University (0-3, 0-0) on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio.
