Bio

Rashad Barksdale enters the 2023 season in his first year as an assistant coach on the Anderson University football staff. He currently serves as the defensive backs coach.

Born and raised in Hudson, N.Y., Barksdale attended University of Albany and played baseball and football. He graduated with a degree in Sociology.

Barksdale was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. He became the first player in Albany history to be named to a 53-man roster and play in an NFL game. Barksdale also went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals. He competed in the Arena Football League for four years as well.

Barksdale started a non-profit organization called the “It’s OK to Dream” foundation where he assisted students from his hometown high school attend college. He has assisted 20+ students with scholarships. The foundation also held community Thanksgiving dinners and sponsored families and children during the Christmas season.

Barksdale has four years of high school coaching experience along with more than five years of speed/agility, individual/personal training.
