The Anderson University volleyball team split its two matches during the Millikin Invitational on Friday in Decatur, Ill.
Illinois College (5-7) secured a 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 sweep against Anderson (7-1). The Ravens then blew out Knox College (0-12) by a score of 25-11, 25-9, 25-18.
COACH TAMI MILLER'S COMMENTS
- Illinois College was our toughest match we've had so far this season. We realized that we have a lot of improvement to make in order to compete with high-caliber teams.
- On the flip side, we were able to play all of our players in the Knox match and give some younger players some experience.
ILLINOIS COLLEGE 3, ANDERSON 0
Paige Ricica was named the Raven of the Match after leading the Ravens with nine kills. Blythe Young turned in 18 assists and 12 digs. Reece Kral recorded two blocks while Lauren Dungan collected 11 digs. Illinois College put together a .195 hitting percentage while Anderson was held to a .019 hitting percentage.
ANDERSON 3, KNOX 0
- Anderson recorded 15 aces in a three-set match for the sixth time in school history and the third time this season. The Ravens set the school record earlier this year with 16.
- Taylor Ridge delivered seven service aces in the three-set, which has only happened five other times in school history by four different players. Jayda Lanham accomplished the feat earlier this season. Audra Hodge holds the school record with nine.
- Anderson rolled to a .358 hitting percentage while the Prairie Fire put together a .103 hitting percentage.
