The Anderson University volleyball team split Day 2 of the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Saturday in Terre Haute.
Anderson (10-3) fought past Monmouth College (10-7) with a 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12 victory. Illinois College (8-9) then swept the Ravens 25-11, 25-21, 25-18.
COACH TAMI MILLER'S COMMENTS
- We started [Saturday] with a great start to the Monmouth match and jumped to an early 2-0 set lead. Monmouth challenged us in every aspect of our game in Sets 3 and 4 as we failed to finish plays. The best part was the fight and resilience that we showed in Set 5 to win the match.
- In the second match, we faced off with Illinois College for the second time this year. Hoping to retaliate with a win, we fell short by being unable to put together a string of positive plays. Their relentless offensive poise kept us on the defensive most of the match. Although we improved each set, Illinois College still prevailed.
