Rice, Bontrager Receive All-HCAC Honorable Mention
November 11, 2019
Anderson University volleyball standouts Olivia Rice (Walkerton, Ind./John Glenn) and Felicity Bontrager (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) each received All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Honorable Mention, which was announced by the conference on Monday.
Rice received All-HCAC Honorable Mention for the third time in her career. The junior from Walkerton led the Ravens in kills per set (2.02) and hitting percentage (.191). Rice provided 45 blocks on the season as well as a digs average of 0.78 per set.
"Olivia has been an offensive weapon for us for the past three seasons," Coach Tami Miller said. "She started for us swinging on the outside early in this season as we were still trying to find our identity as a team. Once we moved her back to the middle she began to experience the success that she is accustomed to. She does a great job in the middle and makes it difficult for middles to defend her."
Bontrager earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore from Goshen ranked fifth in the conference with 0.79 blocks per set. Bontrager recorded a team-high 69 blocks. She also contributed 1.92 kills per set, 1.77 digs per set, a .168 hitting percentage and 21 service aces.
"Felicity is an unbelievable athlete. She is a firecracker on the court and her speed is surpassed by none on our team. She has the ability to be an offensive threat and also does a great job in closing a block. I am so proud of the work that these two young ladies have accomplished."
