Mount St. Joseph University (7-3, 4-1) earned two victories against the Anderson University volleyball team (1-6, 0-4) on Saturday in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
During the opening match, which counts towards Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play, Mount St. Joseph secured a 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 25-13 win. The Lions took Match 2, which is considered non-conference action, by a score of 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23.
"We had some positives from [Saturday's] matches, but unfortunately, our lack of discipline seems to outshine those great moments," Coach Tami Miller said. "We see the potential that this team has in spurts, but we need to find the fortitude to play solid for an entire match. I applaud our team and the fight they continue to show in every match."
MATCH 1: MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 3, ANDERSON 1
Tess Perdue (Lexington, Ky./West Jessamine) led the Ravens with 13 kills. The Lexington, Ky. native also delivered three service aces. Jimena Montano (Algonquin, Ill./Harvest Christian Academy) powered to 10 kills while Ashlyn Transier (Cicero, Ind./Oak Hill) posted nine kills. Kate Todd (Festus, Mo./Festus) provided 24 assists. Erin Roach (Selma, Ind./Wapahani) notched 14 digs and three service aces, while Felicity Bontrager (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) turned in five kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Brooke Troyer (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) scattered 17 digs. Kaycie Gates contributed 11 digs and nine assists.
MATCH 2: MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 3, ANDERSON 1
Shaylen Perry (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) paced the Ravens with 15 kills. Bontrager posted 12 kills, 14 digs, four aces and three blocks. Gates racked up 19 assists, 17 digs and three service aces while Todd dished out 18 assists. Sydney McClain (Urbana, Ohio/Emmanuel Christian Academy) smashed 10 kills while Troyer collected 16 digs. Transier and Montano recorded six kills apiece. Ally Hall (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) collected 10 digs.

Anderson hosts Defiance College (3-6) for a doubleheader on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The first match counts toward HCAC play while the second match is considered non-conference action.
