Luke LeBourdais took 13th place with a 36-hole score of 155 to lead the Ravens. The sophomore from Saginaw, Mich. carded rounds of 72 and 83 on the par-71 layout at Forest Hills Country Club. The round also consisted of the only eagle by any team at the tournament as LeBourdais completed the par-5 535-yard 18th hole in three strokes.
LUKE LeBOURDAIS'S COMMENTS
- [On the team's performance] – On the first day we played really well. It was the first tournament back for everyone, so as a whole, it wasn't perfect, but otherwise it went almost according to plan.
- [On Round of +1] – It started out fine. I didn't hit the ball great, but I was putting and chipping very well. My last five holes, I [double-bogeyed] 17 and I holed out for eagle on 18. It was my first ever hole out from more than 100 yards.
- [On the eagle] – I hit a poor tee shot and then I had to hit it up the driving range. I had a totally blind shot and had to run up to get a good yardage. I hit it on the [upward] slope [of the putting green] and it rolled right back into the hole.
- [On goals for the rest of the season] – Individually, I would like to finish top 10 in a tournament. As a team, I think we need to shoot below 320 a few times and get a lot of experience in for the whole team, get in some pressure situations and learn how to show up in those pressure situations.
