Anderson Takes Fourth in Ball State Invite
The Anderson University women's cross country team took fourth place in Friday's Ball State Invite in Muncie.
Â
NCAA Division I schools earned the top three spots. Ball State University recorded a perfect score of 15. Northern Kentucky University turned in second with 55 points while Miami University came in third with 71 points. Anderson (125) edged HCAC opponent Transylvania University (127) by two points for fourth place.
Â
The Ravens made their 6K debut this season after competing in 5Ks for the last three races.
Â
"The women ran well," Coach Sol Stephens said. "It's our first 6K under our belt We ran the first half of 5Ks to make sure we would be healthy and safe training our way up to the 6Ks with our first four being new to college distance running. They performed well. They performed better than expected."
Â
Rebecca Gregg (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario) captured 21st in the college division with a 6K time of 24 minutes, 28.3 seconds.
Â
"Rebecca stuck her nose in with the Division I girls and ran a great time of sub-24:30, so we're just going to hope to keep leaning off of that."
Â
Noelle Loller (Lapel, Ind./Lapel) secured 23rd with a time of 25:02.6
Â
"Noelle is Rebecca's training partner and Noelle came in right behind Rebecca, keeping a good 1-2 split, which should pay dividends as we continue to work on the back half of the ladies to get ready for the conference meet."
Â
Makayla Barbour (Westville, Ind./Chesterton) claimed 27th with a time of 27:36.2. Katelyn Englert (Birdseye, Ind./Forest Park) charged to 30th with a time of 28:55.6. Bailey Wallace (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) placed 34th with a time of 33:06.8.
Â
Anderson returns to action in the HCAC Championships on Nov. 3 at 12 p.m. in Terre Haute.
Â
"I do not have any complaints about [Friday]. I think we are on schedule to accomplish what we have set out to accomplish."
