Marianne (Kriege) Lawrence - 2001 Athlete

During the 1980s, Marianne Lawrence was one of Anderson University’s top female athletes, including winning a national championship in the 800 meters in track.

Lawrence earned three letters in track, including being named an All-American in the National Christian College Athletic Association. She was also named team MVP, All-Conference and All-District in track.

In cross country, Lawrence earned three letters and was All-Conference and All-District after transferring from Connecticut. After college she continued to run, competing in road races as well as coaching her daughter in track.

While at Anderson, she was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, traveled to Grand Cayman and Honduras with Tri-S and was involved in area churches in leadership roles.

After graduating from Anderson University, she went to Nebraska, where she coached both men’s and women’s track and cross country. She then moved on to Virginia, where she worked as a chemist-water supervisor for the water company.

Anderson University is proud to name Marianne (Kriege) Lawrence to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
