Miriam (Garner) England came to Anderson in the fall of 1979 from Auburn Hills, Mich., to play basketball and run track and field for the Ravens.

England earned four letters in both basketball and track and was named team MVP of the basketball team in 1981. She was also a three-time team captain in track (1979-81) and two-time captain in basketball (1980-81). She was named the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete in 1982.

On campus, she was in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Alpha Lambda Delta, Alpha Chi Kappa Delta Pi, Special Olympics Volunteer and an elementary school basketball coach. Other achievements include the AU Deans List, National Deans List, Who's Who Among American Universities and Americas Outstanding Names and Faces.

England earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Education with honors from Anderson University in 1982 and added her Master of Science in Exercise Science from Oakland University in 1991. She has also done Sports Administration work at Wayne State University.

After college, England taught at Oakland Christian School and has also coached softball, track and basketball over the past 20 years.

She married Jeff England on Dec. 22, 1984 and has three daughters: Debbie, Emily and Hannah.

Anderson University is proud to name Miriam (Garner) England to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
