Larry Holloway - 2008 Athlete

Larry Holloway, who passed away on July 8, 2007, was the head coach of the softball team for 24 seasons and a member of the Raven coaching staff since the sport’s birth in 1978.

Over his career, Holloway had an overall record of 431-503. His teams won five conference regular season titles and five post-season championships. He has been named conference Coach of the Year eight times.

Holloway finished with 431 victories, which ranked 21st on the NCAA Div. III career softball list. He was also named HCAC Coach of the Year at the age of 71 in 2007, becoming the oldest person in NCAA Div. III to win that honor.

He also coached seven conference MVPs, 71 All-Conference players and his teams made three NCAA Div. III regional appearances (1999-2000, 2007), finishing third in his final season at the Central Region in Muskingum, Ohio.

Holloway, who graduated from Markleville High School in 1954, was also the founder of the Pendleton Youth Football League and a founder of the Pendleton Youth Softball League. He also coached traveling softball teams in Pendleton for more than 20 years.

Holloway, who was married to Betty Jo for more than 50 years before his passing, has six children: Tony, Terri, Tandy, Tracy, Teffenie and Trecia.

Anderson University is proud to name Larry Holloway to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
