Ronald Parr - 2002 Athlete

Ron Parr came to Anderson University in the fall of 1959 from Metropolis, Ill., to play football and run track. Parr was an All-Conference performer for four years in football (1959-62) and two more in track, earning eight letters in the two sports.

Parr was also named team MVP after the 1962 football season and was named Outstanding Senior Male Athlete for the 1962-63 school year. Parr was NAIA Little All-American Honorable Mention after the 1960 and 1962 seasons in football.

Parr graduated from Anderson in 1963 and later earned his master’s degree in Physical Education from Indiana University in 1964. While at AU, Parr was the vice president of Circle K, member of the Gospel Group Football Players and the Booster Social Club.

After graduation, Parr joined the AU Physical Education department and coached the men’s basketball team during the 1967-68 season. He also coached basketball at Lakeview High School in Illinois and was named Decatur Area Coach of the Year in 1970.

Parr and his wife Helen reside in Tulare, Calif., and have three children – Rhonda, Michael and Samuele.

Anderson University is proud to name Ronald G. Parr to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
