He also caught 11 passes and averaged 30 yards per punt over his three-year career as the starting quarterback and punter.

Off the field, Patty sang in the choir and was a member of Sachem Club and Christianity in Action and was the minister of music and youth while doubling as the janitor at East Side Church of God.

After college, Patty was a world-class softball pitcher and traveled to several world tournaments. He was also a minister of music in Oklahoma, Arizona and California and a professional gospel singer from 1971-97, singing for the Queen of England, for President Eisenhower at the White House and at Camp David for President George Bush Sr.

Patty earned his degree from AU in 1978 in Bible and Religion. Patty and his wife, Carolyn have been married for more than 50 years and reside in Anderson. They have three children – Sandi, Michael and Craig.
