Ken Strawn - 1997 Athlete

By the time Ken Strawn had completed studies at Anderson University in 1963, he had been named basketball All-American. In addition, his prowess as a Raven cager had earned him All-Conference and team MVP honors for all four of his years as a player.

As the leading Raven scorer for four straight years, he became holder of the Anderson career scoring record (2,142) – an honor that still stands today. Strawn also holds AU records for career field goals made (906) and attempts (1,841).

At the same time, teammates saw the Connersville native a model to copy, a status also recognized by a brother, a sister and three nieces who chose Anderson University for higher education studies.

For 20 years, Strawn participated in industrial, YMCA and company basketball leagues. After earning a master's degree at Purdue University in 1966, he joined Union Carbide, whom he served as a lab department head.

In the community, Strawn has been a Little League coach and board member and active in Church of God congregations in Scott Depot, W.V., and Pasadena, Tex.

Anderson University is proud to name Kenneth G. Strawn among its first inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame.
