Bob Weigle – 2004 Athlete
Bob Weigle came to Anderson University in the fall of 1961 from York Springs, Pa., to play baseball.Weigle was the first Anderson University baseball player to win All-American honors, being named first team in 1965. Weigle was a two-time All-Conference selection (1964-65) and a two-time team MVP (1964-65). He currently ranks second on the career earned run average list (1.99) and third on the career complete games list (21).
Weigle graduated from AU in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and later earned his master’s degree in Physical Education.
After leaving AU, Weigle played professional baseball for five years in the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers minor league system. He also coached baseball at the junior high and high school levels for six years and has been a teacher in the Gettysburg School District for 30 years.
Weigle and his wife Linda reside in Abbottstown, Pa., and have three children – Patrick, Monica and Julie.
Anderson University is proud to name Bob Weigle to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
