Bob Weigle – 2004 Athlete

Bob Weigle came to Anderson University in the fall of 1961 from York Springs, Pa., to play baseball.

Weigle was the first Anderson University baseball player to win All-American honors, being named first team in 1965. Weigle was a two-time All-Conference selection (1964-65) and a two-time team MVP (1964-65). He currently ranks second on the career earned run average list (1.99) and third on the career complete games list (21).

Weigle graduated from AU in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and later earned his master’s degree in Physical Education.

After leaving AU, Weigle played professional baseball for five years in the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers minor league system. He also coached baseball at the junior high and high school levels for six years and has been a teacher in the Gettysburg School District for 30 years.

Weigle and his wife Linda reside in Abbottstown, Pa., and have three children – Patrick, Monica and Julie.

Anderson University is proud to name Bob Weigle to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
