Henry Wilk - 2000 Athlete

Since becoming Anderson University’s first All-American wrestler in 1973, Henry Wilk’s prowess has been recognized with induction into the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame and his prep alma mater Hall of Fame at Mishawaka High School.

His induction into the Anderson University Hall of Fame acknowledges not only his personal achievements, but also his influence in the lives of countless young people, exemplified by the 43 men he has mentored to the IHSAA state finals in 14 years at Mishawaka, including 29 All-State wrestlers.

Wilk was a state champion high school wrestler at Mishawaka at 98 pounds in 1969 before coming to Anderson University. At AU, he won four letters and was three times team captain and MVP of the wrestling team. He was also All-Conference and All-District four times and twice an All-American. He was also a three-time MVP at the Little State meet.

His post-AU career includes 16 state freestyle/Greco Roman competition titles in wrestling.

He has also coached football and wrestling at Penn High School and his wrestlers have performed all over the world, including Cuba, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Germany, Poland and Mexico.

Anderson University is proud to name Henry Lewis Wilk to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
