Dr. Richard Young - 2000 Coach

Dick Young has been a friend, role model, leader, coach, teacher and a man of great faith at Anderson University for 38 years.

Young retired from Anderson University in 2000 after serving in the athletic department as football, wrestling and tennis coach as well as Athletic Director, Department Chairman and Physical Education teacher.

During his tenure at Anderson, Young was named Hoosier-Buckeye Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year three times in football and won five conference titles. He coached six all-Americans and 35 all conference players.

In addition to coaching, his administration skills and interest in establishing a wellness program and wellness center on campus have been evidenced by his vision that “we take care of people with the mind, body and spirit.”

Young’s selection for the AU Distinguished Service Award in 1996 epitomized his belief in and support of the University.

Young and his wife, Sargent, reside in Anderson, but have traveled to more than 25 countries and led several Tri-S trips.

Anderson University is proud to name Dr. Richard Morrison Young to its Athletic Hall of Fame.
