Berban Picks Up HCAC Player-of-the-Week Honors

Anderson University women's tennis standout Katrina Berban (Seguin, Texas/New Braunfels) picks up Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Player-of-the-Week honors, which was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Berban has been named HCAC Player of the Week four times this season, including the last two times. She went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles as Anderson (10-1, 5-0) went 2-0 in conference action. The Ravens coasted to a 9-0 victory against Manchester University (1-10, 1-5) on Wednesday and cruised to a 9-0 win against Earlham College (0-8, 0-6) on Saturday.
In doubles, Berban/Jasmine Blair (Clearwater, Fla./Homeschool/Largo) (9-1) earned an 8-1 victory against Manchester's Karly Eichenauer/Morgan Brazo (3-7). Berban/Blair then collected an 8-0 win against Earlham's Abby Stewart/Alex Swank (0-2).
In singles, Berban took a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Eichenauer (5-6). The freshman from Seguin, Texas claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win against Earlham's Madison Dalzell (0-7).
The Ravens host Defiance College (3-8, 2-4) for their final home match of the year on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in conference action at the AU Tennis Courts. Anderson tied the school record in wins (10) set in 2011 and look to break the record with a win.
The Ravens battle Midway University (4-2) in a non-conference matchup on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Lexington Tennis Club in Lexington, Ky. Anderson then challenges Transylvania University (5-1, 5-0), the only other remaining undefeated team in conference play, on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
