Ravens Fend Off Thunder

The Anderson University women's tennis team fended off Trine University in a 5-4 victory on Sunday at the AU Tennis Courts.
 
Anderson (5-1) and Trine (0-3) both entered the match undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Trine's Ashley Spirrison/Ellie Cole (4-0) topped Katrina Berban (Seguin, Texas/New Braunfels)/Jasmine Blair (Clearwater, Fla./Homeschool/Largo) (5-1) in an 8-4 decision at No. 1 doubles. Berban (6-0) then captured a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Spirrison (3-1) in No. 1 singles.
 
Allison Newman (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) and Claire Miller (Indianapolis, Ind./Homeschool) won both their singles and doubles matches while Jordyn Roper (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) earned a victory in singles.
 
The Ravens, who are 1-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play, host Mount St. Joseph University (1-2, 0-1) for Senior Day on Saturday at 12 p.m. in an HCAC matchup at the AU Tennis Courts.
