Leonard, Sego Named to All-HCLC Second Team

Leonard also earned all-HCAC Honorable Mention as a sophomore.
During conference play, Leonard started all five matches saved 48 (37.8 percent) of the 127 shots she faced. The junior from Flower Mound, Texas totaled 14 caused turnovers and 21 ground balls.
During the regular season, Leonard started all 14 matches and saved 116 (36.9 percent) of the 314 shots she faced. She also recorded 28 caused turnovers and 58 ground balls. Leonard has put together an average of 4.14 ground balls per match, which ranks 39th in the nation. Among HCLC leaders, Leonard ranks third in ground balls per match and third in caused turnovers per match (2.0).
"Madison gave her best every game, making saves and ranking among the conference leaders in both ground balls and caused turnovers," Coach Russell Mackey said. "She is a consummate teammate, student and outstanding goalie. We would be lost without her."
Sego started in all five matches during conference play and tallied 14 goals, two assists, 16 points and 22 draw controls. During the regular season, Sego started all 14 matches and notched 33 goals, seven assists, 40 points, 63 draw controls and 35 ground balls. Sego ranks sixth in the HCLC with 4.5 draw controls per match. She was also named HCLC Offensive Player of the Week during the season.
"I'm extremely proud of Emma's performance this season, leading her team in goals and draw controls. Emma was asked to play a new position from that if what she played in high school, and she learned it and played it well. As a freshman, we are excited to have her for more years to come."
