Ravens Drop Double Overtime Heartbreaker to Bison

The Anderson University women's lacrosse team (0-2) dropped a 9-8 double overtime heartbreaker to Bethany College (W.Va.) (3-0) on Sunday in Bethany, W.Va.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Anderson jumped out to a 4-2 lead through the first quarter. Riley Tull and Emma Sego each scored a pair of goals.
• The Ravens entered halftime with a 6-3 lead following goals from Tull and Mac Van Benthuysen.
• Erin Bentley added a goal to put the Ravens up by four in the third quarter. The Bison scored two goals to trim the lead to 7-5 through three quarters.
• Van Benthuysen netted a goal early in the fourth quarter. Bethany closed out regulation with three unanswered goals, taking the match into overtime tied at 8-8.
• During the second overtime, Cassidy Mailloux fired a shot on a goal that was a save. Mailloux then rebounded her own shot and found the back of the net for the game winner.

COACH RUSSELL MACKEY'S COMMENTS

It's just disappointing that we couldn't finish strong. It's heartbreaking to lose in double overtime, but we're getting better each week with each game.
