The Anderson University women's lacrosse team (1-1) broke the program scoring record as the Ravens took down Thomas More College (0-3) with a 19-15 victory on Saturday at Macholtz Stadium.
In addition to Anderson eclipsing the single-game scoring record, Mallory Housman dished out four assists, tying the single-game school record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle. Anderson led the Saints 4-2, but the Saints scored the final two goals of the quarter to even the score at 4-4.
- The second quarter looked very similar as both teams again never held more than a two-goal lead. Anderson entered halftime with an 8-7 advantage.
- Anderson found momentum in the third quarter by netting the first four goals of the quarter, two of which came from Samantha Huber.
- The Saints responded with a three-goal run to get back within striking distance.
- Even with Thomas More cutting the deficit to one, Riley Tull and Gretta Mesarosh scored consecutive goals as Anderson wrapped up the third quarter with a 15-12 lead.
- The Saints came within one during the fourth quarter as Gracey Robinson and McKenzie Mobley opened the quarter with consecutive goals.
- Three unanswered goals by the Ravens put the game out of reach.

- Anderson held a 21-5 advantage on free-position attempts and a 7-2 advantage in free-position goals.
- The Ravens finished 6-of-8 (75 percent) clears while the Saints cleared 9-of-20 (45 percent) attempts.

- The Ravens outshot the Saints 45-23 and held a 32-21 advantage in shots on goal

COACH RUSSELL MACKEY'S COMMENTS
- We gutted out the game. It was truly back and forth or close for about 50 of the 60 minutes.
- Riley Tull kept things alive in the midfield per her draws and overall transition play. She knocked in some critical goals as well.
- The scoring by pretty much all of our offensive players indicates the team effort.
- The defense stepped up big when needed.
- The team kept their cool throughout the game.
