"The conditions were cold and windy, which made the day hard to bear," Coach Nic Huffman said. "We've been pushing hard the past few weeks in practice and the fatigue was showing, but they all did a wonderful job of staying focused on their objectives. Some people made an immediate impact to the team, some are learning new events and some still managed PR's. Our coaching staff was pleased with how they competed against the weather and really tough competition. I was happy with how they represented the school. They stayed positive, supported each other, held each other accountable and were kind to others. We made the best out of a rough day. It was a great start to the outdoor season."
Barrett captured sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.14 meters (20 feet, 1.75 inches). Michael Sweigart claimed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.88 meters (42 feet, 3.25 inches). Kaleb Gucinski raced to a personal-record (PR) time of 16 minutes, 57.29 seconds in the 5,000.
Anderson is set to compete in the Huntsman Family Invitational on Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m. in Crawfordsville.
