Sweigart Earns Third in Shot Put in Fighting Chance Meet

Sweigart launched the shot put 15.59 meters (51 feet, 1.75 inches). The junior from Alexandria took sixth overall and fifth in the college division in the hammer with a distance of 54.64 meters (179 feet, 3.25 inches). Sweigart also finished 10th overall and ninth in the college division in the discus with a throw of 42.56 meters (139 feet, 7.5 inches).
Zachary Davenport claimed seventh overall and sixth in the college division in the 1,500-meter open with a time of 4 minutes, 13.56 seconds. Parker Hammons launched the javelin 42.37 meters (139 feet, 0 inches).
"We gained some invaluable experience being around such elite competition," Coach Nic Huffman said. "The weather was great, but we were just off what we wanted to accomplish. That's sports and that's life. The sun will still rise tomorrow and we will get back to work. I'm proud of the work these young men put forth and the class acts they are."
Anderson battles in the two-day Mount Union Last Chance, beginning on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Alliance, Ohio.
