The Anderson University women's track and field team progressed after competing in a pair of meets for the weekend.
Paige McKain took part in Hoosier Hills on Friday in Bloomington. The freshman from Brownstown ran to a time of 12 minutes, 9.85 seconds in the 3,000-meter run.
Anderson then competed in the Jerry England Invitational on Saturday in Indianapolis. Jaycie Sones turned in a season best of 31.43 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
"This weekend went just as planned," Coach Nic Huffman said. "It was our last weekend of competition before conference and we all performed really well." We've been training hard and it's catching up to us. We looked tired, but executed and performed well. I think the athletes were frustrated with their performances, but there were some personal best and near personal best efforts. We'll get some rest and be ready in two weeks. It's a young team, so they don't quite understand how well they performed with how tired they are. From a coaching standpoint, I'm confident in our group heading into conference."
Anderson battles in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. in Cincinnati.
