The Anderson University women's track and field team finished eighth place in the Indiana D-III Championships on Saturday in Greencastle.
"We had an exciting Saturday," Coach Nic Huffman said. "It was a hot day, which makes it fun for sprinters and field events, but tough on distance runners. There were a lot of season and lifetime bests happening. We're at the end of our training season and still competing well when we're really tired. I think we gained a lot of confidence. It's good timing with only two weeks left until conference. Now we start getting rest so we can be our best."
Jada Stansberry charged to first place in the 400-meter dash with a meet-record time of 58.46 seconds. The freshman from Alexandria blew out the field with a 3.88-second margin of victory. Stansberry leads the conference and ranks 49th in the nation in the 400. In the 200, Stansberry took second with a time of 25.75 seconds. Stansberry now ranks second in school history in both the 200 and the 400. She currently ranks fourth in the conference in the 200.
Anderson fielded a 4x100 relay team of Izzy Jahjah, Julia Drier, Jaycie Sones and Stansberry, which secured fourth with a time of 52.68 seconds.
Emilie Penick clocked an 800 personal-record (PR) time of 2 minutes, 32.73 seconds.
