Pioneers Earn Victory against Ravens
Transylvania University earned a 197-71 victory against the Anderson University women's swimming and diving team during Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup in Lexington, Ky.
Â
The Pioneers moved to 4-1 with a 1-0 HCAC record while the Ravens moved to 1-1 overall with a 1-1 conference record.
Â
"I am very proud of how the AU student-athletes competing in [Saturday's] meet persevered through the adversity of being outnumbered by Transylvania swimmers in numerous events," Coach Tanner Barton said. "They represented Anderson University, our Athletic Department and our swimming and diving program in a commendable way."
Â
Lily Hunter (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) charged to first place in her 200-yard freestyle debut with a time of 2 minutes, 9.5 seconds. The freshman from Westfield put together a time of 1:08.18 in the 100 butterfly.
Â
"Lily has an impressive 200 freestyle. This was the first time Lily swam the 200 freestyle as a Raven and she came through with a victory against three Transylvania swimmers."
Â
After setting the bar in the program's diving debut on Friday, Halle Strege (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) cruised to first first in 1-meter diving on Saturday with a program-best score of 227.33.
Â
"Halle Strege (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) continues to impress in 1-meter diving. Her degree of difficulty was higher than the other three conference opponents and she executed her dives with grace. She was victorious in [Saturday's] 1-meter event and scored 110.43 more points than the second-place finisher."
Â
Tess Maubach (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) locked up first (2:35.85) in the 200 butterfly.
