Anderson Breaks Four Records, Begins HCAC Championships in Third

The Anderson University women's swimming and diving team broke four school records while beginning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships in third place after Day 1 in Terre Haute.

Anderson posted a team score of 107.5 points. The Ravens are currently within 7.5 points of second-place Transylvania University.

Lily Hunter raced to fourth in the 50-yard freestyle prelims, improving her school record with a time of 25.05 seconds. The freshman from Westfield captured fourth in the 50-freestyle finals with a time of 25.19 seconds.

The Ravens fielded a 200-freestyle relay of Aubrey Davis, Claire Leibold, Lillia Mitchell and Hunter, which took third with a school-record time of 1 minute, 41.68 seconds.

Anderson put together a 400-medley relay of Davis, Mitchell, Tess Maubach and Hunter locked up third with a school-record time of 4:15.71. The Ravens fielded a 400-medley relay of Ashley Daulton, Jess Pulaski, Tori Haessig and Brooke Denouden, which finished eighth while also besting the previous school record with a time of 4:20.71.

In the 200 individual medley, Mitchell broke the school record while Tess Maubach also topped the previous record. Mitchell claimed eighth (2:23.61) in the prelims and seventh (2:21.05) in the finals. Tess Maubach placed seventh (2:22.57) in the prelims and eighth in the finals.

Kaitlyn Hopp secured eighth (5:30.40) in the 500-freestyle prelims and ninth (5:29.73) in the 500-freestyle finals.

Pulaski earned 10th (2:26.55) in the 200-individual-medley prelims and ninth (2:24.54) in the 200-individual-medley finals.

Davis charged to 11th (25.96) in the 50-freestyle prelims and tied for ninth (25.93) in the 50-freestyle finals.

Leibold captured ninth (5:31.69) in the 500-freestyle prelims and 10th (5:32.53) in the 500-freestyle finals.

The Ravens put together a 200-freestyle relay of Daulton, Noelle Parks, Hopp and Emma Maubach, which took ninth (1:46.68).

Haessig earned 11th (2:27.51) in the 200-individual-medley prelims and 11th (2:27.98) in the 200-individual-medley finals.

Denouden finished 11th (5:33.44) in the 500-freestyle prelims and 11th (5:36.18) in the 500-freestyle finals.

Franklin College holds a steady lead in the HCAC standings with 265.5 points. Transylvania (115) is currently in second and sits ahead of Anderson (107.5), Hanover College (93), Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (61) and Manchester University (20), which rounds out the current standings.

The Ravens begins Day 2 of the HCAC Championships on Friday at 10 a.m.
