Ravens Fight Past Panthers in Season Opener

Anderson moved to 1-0 on the year while Hanover fell to 0-1.
Kaitlyn Hopp (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) captured first place in 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12 minutes, 2.07 seconds. The junior from Downers Grove, Ill. also took first (5:48.83) in the 500 freestyle.
Noelle Parks (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) raced to first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.75.
Lily Hunter (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) charged to first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.94 seconds.
Lillia Mitchell (Crawfordsville, Ind./North Montgomery) locked up first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:25.95.
Heather Karm (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) secured first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.55.
Tori Haessig (Sunman, Ind./Milan)posted a personal record time of 2:20.79 in the 200 freestyle.
Anderson took the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. The relay of Hopp, Mitchell, Tess Maubach (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) and Hunter claimed first (2:01.05) in the 200 medley relay. Anderson also fielded a relay team of Parks, Karm, Haessig and Brooklyn DenOuden (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion), which finished second.
The Ravens put together a 200 freestyle relay team of Karm, Mitchell, Maubach and Hunter, which earned first (1:34.72).
Anderson battles Bethel University (Ind.) (2-5), Indiana Wesleyan University (5-1) and NCAA Division II's Hillsdale College (1-0) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Elkhart at the Beacon Health & Fitness Aquatics Center. In the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll, Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 3 and Bethel is ranked No. 8.
