Fridley Field
Anderson University's Soccer Field was first created in 1985-86 as the schools club soccer team got started taking over the old football field, as they had moved to their new field on the south side of campus. After a few years of extending the field and creating a soccer pitch, in 1989 the first Men's Varsity Soccer Team kicked off its inaugural season. Shortly after in 1993, the Women's Soccer Team's kicked off its inaugural year. The Field is a 120 yards long and 75 yards wide and fully irrigated (installed August 2017).
The current field hosts:
- The 36' x 16' x 20', Verle E. Fridley Sr. Press Box, dedicated in 2015.
- A 24' x 12' x 8' home and guest enclosed team area, updated in 2000.
- A 16' x 20' Video Scoreboard, replacing the original clock (1992) in October 2016 graciously donated by Meijer.
- Continued new landscape.
- Bleacher installation (June 2020) seating capacity of 856 featuring orange face plates and donor-engraved seats.
- A 10' x 20' concession building was added in 2019
- A 10' x 20' equipment garage was built in 2021
- The stadium became fully enclosed with six-foot fencing and wrapped with AU Soccer wind screens in 2021
Updating the Stadium:
- At Homecoming in the Fall of 2021, AU Soccer dedicated the completion of its first stage of the stadium improvement project surpassing $230,000.
- Includes the completing of the men and women's team room, which includes a restroom and an athletic training room.
What's Next:
- Phase 2 will include lights, a pavilion, bathrooms, additional grass seating, and new landscaping
