Bio

Cody Young came to Anderson from Delta High School in Muncie, Ind. in the Fall of 2006 to compete in baseball for the Ravens.

He was selected as a first-team all-HCAC recipient as a sophomore and earned second-team all-HCAC recognition as a junior. On April 16, 2010 vs. Defiance College in his senior season, Young contributed to four single-game records. In addition to joining the list of players to record seven at bats in a game, Young notched six hits and 14 total bases, which are records that he holds outright. Young also became the second player to score six runs in a game, tying the record set 36 years earlier.

As a senior, Young powered to a .482 batting average, a .532 on-base percentage and a single-season school record .982 slugging percentage. He collected first-team all-HCAC honors for the second time in his career. Young was also named a D3baseball.com All-American Honorable Mention and an ABCA second-team all-region recipient. He holds six single-game entries and five single-season entries in Anderson's record book. Among Anderson career leaders, Young ranks fourth in triples (17), sixth in slugging percentage (.702) and eighth in homers (30). He was selected as the Anderson Outstanding Senior Male Athlete and was named the Carl Erskine Award of Excellence recipient.

Young was drafted in the 47th round by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2010 MLB Draft. He and Chris Jarrett are the second pair of Anderson teammates to be drafted in the same year. Young was also a member of Don Brandon's final 2010 team, which led NCAA Division III in both batting average and slugging percentage. The team also ranked second in home runs per game, fourth in scoring, sixth in doubles per game and sixth in triples per game.
