Grizzlies Earn Win against Ravens
Franklin College earned a 180-40 win against the Anderson University men's swimming and diving team during Friday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference dual at Bennett Natatorium.
Â
The Grizzlies moved to 6-1 on the season with a 4-0 HCAC record. Anderson fell to 1-4 with a 0-3 conference record.
Â
"Franklin boasts an extremely competitive program as both their men and women won the HCAC Championship last year," Coach Tanner Barton said.
Â
Anderson fielded a 200-yard medley relay of Alex Cubellis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider), Josh Ekberg (Mahomet, Ill/Mahomet Seymour), Noah Scheffer (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford) and Evan Kropf (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne Concordia). Franklin's 'A' relay edged Anderson's 'A' relay by just three-tenths of a second. Anderson came in second with a time of 1 minute, 39.50 seconds.
Â
Scheffer posted a 100-freestyle of 49.16 seconds.
Â
Bryce Holt (Osceola, Ind./Penn High School) put together a 100-backstroke time of 57.55 seconds.
Â
"Our men continued to fight and race throughout the evening. We were close to earning a victory in the 200 medley relay, but fell short by 0.30 seconds. I look forward to seeing how they will come out with even more fire and grit during the second part of the year."
Â
Bennett Natatorium saw a packed house for Friday's HCAC dual.
Â
"This was our second home meet of the season. It's always exciting to host a meet here and to see members of the campus community coming to support our student-athletes."
Â
Anderson resumes the season on Jan. 11 with an HCAC dual against Hanover College (0-2, 0-1) at 2 p.m. in Hanover.
"We now transition into a month dedicated to training. This is the time for us to improve upon our current technique and speed."
